Apart from Stamford many other major fairs around the country are also visited by our members throughout the year. The majority of society members are not from Stamford, most live outside the area in various parts of the country, and share information with us as to what is happening at their own local fairs. We also have a growing number of showmen themselves as members, who kindly support the activities of our society.

section of The Showmen’s Guild of Great Britain, and his wife Cilla, receiving a cheque from the proceeds of our prize tombola stall, from society members at a previous model show. This years show is already full with several new exhibitor’s bringing their displays. It is being held on Saturday 8 March 2008. Again kindly sponsored by Roger Tuby & Sons Fun Fairs. This will be held as usual in the United Reformed Church Hall, Broad Street, from 10 am to 5 pm with free admission. There will be fairground DVDs, books, photo’s and model supplies on sale.

Later in the year showman William Wood & Sons presents a much smaller fair on the Recreation Ground. The autumn fair is from Wednesday 8th to Saturday 11th of October 2008. Arriving in town the previous Sunday after the famous Nottingham Goose Fair. Last year was very successful, with a well balanced selection of rides and attractions for all ages. Although this event has only been running for 10 years, support by the locals has generally been very good. Lets hope that it continues to grow in size and popularity.
